A Little About Me

Hello Everyone, My name is Paul Ellams and I am an emerging artist from Runcorn, in the North West of the England

Thank you for taking the time to read a little about me.

Creating my art is something I’ve only been doing very recently, yet is something that seems ingrained within me now.
Some might say I am now addicted to painting and creating in general.

I left school many many years ago (About 40 to be precise) and since leaving I have never really picked up a paint brush or a pencil. I had always seen painting and art in general as some kind of magical thing which no one other that someone called an Artist could do. Over the past year or two though things have changed and I now believe that anyone and everyone should have a go at painting or drawing.

For me it takes me away from a world of worries and I can just enjoy the moment and forget things and see what happens.

If as part of this I can produce something which puts a smile on someones face I couldn’t be happier.

The subjects I paint are usually Animals and Landscapes, both of which I usually have a connection with while painting,
and when a painting starts to come together I get quite a buzz from seeing it come alive.

I have always found it hard to slow down so my paintings are produced quite quickly, and in quite a haphazard mix of methods,
These methods include wood working on my latest 3D pieces, graphite sketching, airbrush techniques and a method called grisaille.
These odd combinations just seem to work for me.

The grisaille technique I use which is not seen very often involves painting first in just black and white, and then glazing the painting with colours over the top. I enjoy using this method as it makes the paintings come alive in different ways when light shines on the painting from different angles.

Anyway please have a look around my web site and send me a message if you’d like to know anything else about me.

Oh and by the way , I’m completely self taught. I was never good at School.
